The Best Early Amazon Prime Day 2022 Deals Center on Alexa
Amazon Prime Day sales stretch across July 12-13 and a wide swath of products, but the company has continued its trend of giving particularly deep discounts for any Alexa-enabled devices it produces, including Echos smart speakers and displays, Fire TVs, and connected smart home devices operated by the voice assistant. Alexa is also continuing its role as a shopping aide for Prime Day. Alexa device owners can ask for a reminder about Prime Day, arrange notifications about deals for specific items, and even assign Alexa days beforehand to carry out purchases for pre-approved items when the discounts activate.
Early Echo Sales
Some of the Alexa-affiliated sales have begun days before the official Prime Day kickoff. You can already get the spherical 4th generation Echo introduced in 2020 for $60 instead of $100, while its smaller counterpart of the same generation and release date has dropped by $30 to just $20. The animal-themed Echo Dot Kids Edition, which includes a year’s subscription to Amazon Kids+ dropped from $60 to $25. Meanwhile, The previous hockey puck-shaped iterations of the Echo Dot only costs $40 normally, but Amazon is still cutting that price by a quarter to $30. The sales get steeper for the more expensive smart displays. The Echo Show 8 smart display is half off at $55, while the 2nd-generation Echo Show 5 smart display is available for $35, a 59% reduction from the listed cost. The child-friendly version of the Echo Show 5 makes up for its lack of animal overcoat by dropping from $95 to $40.
Fiery Discounts
Alexa isn’t only for smart speakers and displays of course. And Amazon is giving Fire TV products some of the biggest discounts, down by almost 80% in some cases. The new Smart Fire TV built in partnership with Toshiba makes the usual voice remote superfluous by building in far-field microphones for voice control similar to a smart display The 55-inch Class M550 Series LED 4K UHD is $350, which is still far less than the $520 it normally costs. Alexa’s connection to a voice remote doesn’t preclude a sale on other Fire TVs products like the $60 Fire TV Cube, a 50% reduction. That puts it at the same price point of a non-discounted Fire TV Stick 4K UHD, which has begun selling for $40. The new price lowers it to a that of a regular Fire TV Stick’s, except they too are cut down to and only cost $17.
Some Alexa devices are not part of the early sale but should see steep discounts come Prime Day. For instance, the $50 Echo Auto, which integrates Alexa into cars that don’t host the voice assistant has previously called to $20 during Prime Day, while the price of the modular, plug-in Echo Flex smart speaker dropped from $25 to $10 in past Prime Day Sales.
