Australian voice tech developer Dubber has acquired AI startup Notiv for about $4.75 million. Notiv’s platform will augment Dubber’s Unified Call Recording with AI-powered meeting transcription and note-taking.
Dubber Notiv
Notiv’s cloud-based platform uses AI to meetings transcribe meetings, make notes and summaries, and highlights action items and other key elements. The company plans to boost its business with the expanded capabilities brought by Notiv while expanding the potential customer base for Notiv’s features with the acquisition.
“One of our fundamental beliefs is that artificial intelligence has a part to play as a standard feature of every call and conversation. Notiv is a significant step towards achieving this in that it has clear and defined use cases for everyone from individuals to the largest of enterprises,” Dubber CEO Steve McGovern said. “With Notiv, Dubber will now have the ability to automatically take notes and create action items on every call. We are confident that our telecommunications carrier and service provider partners will see enormous potential for revenue-generating value-added services for their customers at scale.”
Transcribing Value
Transcribing and analyzing calls is a big business now, with lots of large dollar amounts getting tossed around. That’s why Verbit pulled in $157 million in June, Fireflies.ai raised $14 million in May, and why Otter.ai pulled in $50 million in February. Notably, Otter offers its services on Zoom too but recently opened up to Google Meet and other platforms. For smaller companies like Notiv, joining up with other firms like Dubber is the best solution for growing their business and bringing their tech to new clients.
“The Notiv team is exceptionally proud of the technology we have developed. The ability to roll out Notiv globally with the world’s leading service providers is an unmissable opportunity,” Notiv CEO Chris Raethke said. The chance to join the Dubber growth journey at this time and expand Dubber’s AI and NLP capabilities is exciting for all of us. We are confident that the combination of Dubber and Notiv will deliver incredible value to customers, businesses and our fellow shareholders alike.”
