Women in Voice Will Showcase Female Founders At First Elevator Pitch Series Event
Women in Voice is hosting the first of a new series of elevator pitch events on June 17 at 2:30 p.m. EST. The On the Way Up event series offers a virtual stage for female and nonbinary founders of voice and AI startups to introduce their companies to potential investors and the voice tech community and gather feedback on how they might improve their pitch.
Elevator Pitching
On the Way Up is a chance for the five participating founders to test out a short version of how they would pitch their company to investors, featuring representatives of VoicePunch and GrowthTO. The mixed crowd of founders, angel investors, and venture capitalists will then be able to ask questions and share advice and criticism with the founder, learning more about the company and helping hone the presentation for the next time. Amazon Alexa Startups is the lead sponsor for the first event in the series. Alexa Startups has regularly worked with Women in Voice, providing judges for the Seattle chapter’s Live Demo Day pitch event last year. Their participation could mean a chance for the founders to pick up investment from the $200 million Alexa Fund.
“These pitch events are the direct result of shared goals to amplify women founders and connect them with investors who are eager to learn and invest in the conversational AI and voice space.” Women in Voice founder and CEO Dr. Joan Palmiter Bajorek said.
Women’s Voices
The elevator pitch series is part of Women in Voice’s work to add and improve its bench of programs and events over the last year. After celebrating its second anniversary, the organization accelerated its work when it formally named a board of directors and registered as a non-profit organization. Women in Voice counts 20 chapters in 15 countries as members, with more joining at a steady clip. The group already has more events on the calendar, like the Conversations & Coffee roundtable discussion with women leaders in voice sponsored by Google Assistant on June 22. The biggest upcoming event, however, is the Women in Voice Inaugural Summit, which will include hundreds of participants virtually gathering on July 20-22
“This speaks to the heart of why we exist,” Palmiter Bajorek said. “These events help women from all generations and backgrounds believe they can be in this field, and equip them to make waves.”
