5 Project Voice Award Nominees to Watch

The Project Voice conference has revealed the chosen finalists for its awards. The Project Voice Award and the Outstanding Achievement Award winners will be announced at the Project Voice conference in Chattanooga, Tennessee, at the awards gala on January 16.

5 Highlights

The award nominees are sorted into categories covering a wide range of the industry and there are a lot of impressive names on the lists. We’ve picked out five examples across all of categories to highlight the breadth of ideas.

Audioburst – This startup is nominated both as a developer for Samsung Bixby and for its eponymous capsule for that voice assistant. Audioburst offers voice-based audio search and discovery along with news feeds for Bixby users.

“Alexa, What Am I Holding?” – This Alexa skill for the Echo Show is up for the Project Voice Medal For Diversity And Inclusion. Created by Amazon, this skill uses the camera on the Echo Show to identify grocery items as a way of helping people with visual impairments.

Levi’s – Nominated as Retail Voice Developer Of The Year, Levi’s has been working at integrating voice assistant access into some of the clothing it sells. Notably, it worked with Google’s Jacquard division to debut a jean jacket that can connect with Android devices and communicate with Google Assistant by voice and a smart sensory patch on the sleeve.

Matchbox.io – Matchbox is nominated for Gaming Voice Developer Of The Year along with its Question of the Day voice game and the related Flash Briefing. The company has been growing quickly and recently picked up several new skills for its library, including Find My Phone, after acquiring Opearlo in November.

TD Ameritrade – Nominated for Banking/Finance Voice Developer Of The Year and the Voice of Money Award, TD Ameritrade has had a busy year expanding its voice app to Google Assistant, adding stock trading via Amazon Alexa and integrating into automotive voice assistants.

Nuance – Nuance Healthcare is nominated for Voice Developer Of The Year while Dragon Medical is up for the Voice of Healthcare Summit Award. The company’s Dragon Medical Virtual Assistant speeds up and streamlines how doctors organize patient records and complete paperwork and seeing a much wider deployment after joining the Microsoft Azure platform.

The Project Voice conference takes place January 13-17 in Chattanooga. The event will host more than 3,000 attendees from 15-20 countries involved in voice and AI.
