Apple HomePod Gets $100 Discount Today

Apple doesn’t discount its devices as a general rule. The price is typically the price until a new model comes out. However, as more retailers are carrying Apple products you occasionally see discounts to drive shopper interest in a store visit or to place an online order. Best Buy caused a stir on Black Friday by being the first known discount available on Apple HomePods. The retailer was selling HomePods for $249, a $100 discount. However, the devices required in-store pick-up, availability was limited, and the devices quickly sold out.

B&H Photo is offering a similar discount this morning, but no store visit is required. You can order an Apple HomePod for $249. The listing warns that there is a “limited supply at this price” and it expects availability in 1-3 business days. That likely means the retailer is expecting a shipment of devices this week and is looking to drive a lot of traffic to its website and pre-sell the inventory. Retailer PC Richard & Son offered a $100 discount on Google Home Max smart speakers earlier this week and quickly sold off their inventory. We noted at the time that the premium smart speaker market is competitive and appears to be price sensitive. So, if you are in the market for an Apple HomePod, you might want to jump on this offer before it’s gone.
