Amazon Echo Dot Finally Sold Out Before Christmas
Amazon Echo Dot was the top selling product on Amazon.com for the 2016 holiday season, Prime Day 2017 and Black Friday weekend 2017. However, it never seemed to go out of stock on Amazon.com this year. Well, it finally happened. The entry level Alexa device is still selling at its holiday discount level of $29.99, but it won’t be in stock until December 30th.
Why the continued discount? I presume that Amazon is hoping that millions of new Echo Dot owners will be so enamored with the device that they just might order some for a few more rooms now that all of the presents are unwrapped. And, the few poor souls that didn’t receive one as a gift, can treat themselves at the discounted price.
Echo Show Back at Full Price
The 2nd Generation Echo is still on sale as well, but the Echo Show is back up to its $229.99 list price. Echo Show had dropped all the way to $150 after Google pulled YouTube access from the device for a second time earlier this month. Returning to the higher price point suggests that Amazon still believes the device can sell at full price even without YouTube. Then again, they are still running the $100 discount when you purchase two Echo Show devices.
Echo Spot is back in stock and shipping at full price for $129.99. Echo Plus remains at its full price of $149.99 but is shipping with a $15 Philips Hue smart home bulb for free.
