Amazon Echo Prime Day Deal 50 Percent Off and $15 Savings on Dot
Amazon Prime Day deals have started for Amazon Echo owners. While most Prime members have to wait until 9:00 PM EST to access Prime Day deals, Echo owners get early access and are treated to 11 deals starting this evening at 7:00 PM EST. The first deal listed was for an Amazon Echo Dot for $34.99, a 30% discount. While refurbished Dots were on sale last week for $29.99, the is the lowest price we have seen for new devices. The previous lowest price was $39.99 just before Black Friday in 2016.
Amazon Echo Has an Even Steeper Discount
Amazon Echo was discounted at least twice in June for $100 off when you purchased two and later for $50 off when purchasing just one. The $50 discount was the largest since the 2016 Holiday season, but this evening’s discount goes to $90 off of a single device. It is listed for just $89.99 for a cool 50% off of list.
Google no doubt anticipated heavy Prime Day discounting on Echo when it decided to discount Google Home this week on its website store at a price of $99 and on the eBay Google store at $99 when bundled with a Chromecast video device. For you Echo Tap fans, you weren’t left out either. You can save $50 and get the portable Alexa-powered Echo for just $79.99.
Over Half of Prime Day Alexa Deals For Smart Home or Echo
It is not too surprising that 6 of the 11 Alexa exclusive Prime Day Deals were either for an Echo device or a smart home device that works with Alexa. Additional deals offered discounts on on Wemo Smart Plugs, Philips Hue Go Portable table lamp and a Bose Soundlink Speaker. Of course, you can also save 35% on Ziplock bags and 30% on a new Adventure Stand Up Paddleboard.
Amazon Uses Aggressive Discounting to Drive Alexa Adoption
The Prime Day Deals on Echo devices are slightly better than recent discounts, but follow the same general pattern. It is clear that Amazon is not concerned about profit margin on the Echo devices. The company is focused on getting as many people to buy one as possible, getting them comfortable using the Alexa voice assistant and making sure price isn’t a big obstacle.
