TechCrunch – Huawei puts $1M into New AI Research Partnership with UC Berkeley
TechCrunch – The artificial intelligence development race is just beginning and Huawei, the Chinese telecommunications equipment and services company, wants in. The company announced a partnership with UC Berkeley last week to further its research of artificial intelligence. The initial amount of funding will be $1 million “for research into many subjects of interest in AI, including deep learning, reinforcement learning, machine learning, natural language processing and computer vision,” according to the company’s press release on the alliance. Huawei joins a growing list of tech companies interested in acquiring top talent, whether it be partnering with a university like Google did with Oxford in 2014 or startups, like Apple’s purchase of Faceshift last year.
