CNBC: In quest for better AI, tech behemoths gobble up smaller companies

CNBC: A recent report from CB Insights suggests that, “Nearly 140 private companies working to advance AI technology have been acquired since 2011, including 40 buyouts just this year.” CNBC points out that Google has been the most aggressive acquirer with 11 AI related acquisitions. In addition to Google, Apple, Microsoft, IBM and AOL were cited as recent acquirers of AI technology. Not mentioned was the acquisition of AI-based voice assistant Viv last week by Samsung, but that would suggest a continuation of the trend. LINK.
