Aussies Can Now Build Google Assistant Apps
A blog post by Brad Abrams, Google Assistant Group Product Manager, earlier this morning announced that the developer platform Actions on Google is now available to support Australian English. This means that developers now have access to build Google Assistant apps designed for users in Australia. Google Home officially launched in Australia on July 18th.
Bringing Google Assistant Apps to Australia
Even though Google Assistant launched an English language version almost a year ago, tuning the voice model for regional differences is important. Google has several Assistant apps that already work in Australia, but this update opens up new opportunities for third party developers. Google Home is currently the only smart speaker available in Australia.
