Google Home Mini Launching in Japan Later This Week

Google executive Rishi Chandra announced today that Google Home will launch in Japan later this week. He also mentioned that Google “Voice Match” will be available in all seven countries where Google Home will be available. That means Google Home will not be making announcements about imminent availability in India or Korea. Amazon announced this morning that it will be available later this month in India by invitation.

Google Home Given Top Spot

It is worth noting that Google Home was given the prime spot in the today’s presentation. Google Home Mini, Google Home Max and the Japan announcement preceded the segment on Pixel. What does that say about how Google views these devices? It’s definitely not mobile-first anymore. Sudar Pichai said once again that the company is AI-first and Google Home and Google Assistant are core to that shift.
