Google is all about attention. That is the thesis of this Wired article by David Pierce. For Google, gadgets are merely a method for staying in front of consumers. New product categories such as the in-home virtual assistant market led by Amazon Echo / Alexa can disrupt Google’s objective of pervasive presence.
