Actions on Google Platform Launches for Google Home
VentureBeat – Google launched the Action on Google platform today. Developers can now create actions for the Google Home, which are Google’s version of an Alexa skill. Actions will start rolling out in the coming weeks from early partners, including WEBMD, CNN and Quora. The Google Assistant platform will not be available for third-party integrations for the Pixel smartphone and Allo chat app until 2017, but if a developer creates an action today, it will eventually be made available on those devices. Google acquired startup API.ai and Gupshup can also be used to develop actions. “One of the key principles about this platform and how we’re building it is it will eventually be available everywhere the assistant itself is, which will be across lots of Google products and platforms. Over time, as a developer, you’re really building for all of Google,” said Google Assistant product lead Jason Douglas. LINK
