When James A. Martin of CIO inquired on Help a Reporter Out what the top startup trends of 2017 would be, the response was overwhelmingly artificial intelligence and machine learning. This isn’t surprising with the amount IBM, Google and others have already invested in this growing field. Ludo Ulrich, head of startup relations at Salesforce, also points to the growing number of classes universities are offering on the subject which will create a new depth of talent that startups need to foster innovation. Another reason for artificial intelligence taking the number one spot is that its impact will be felt in a wide variety of industries, from banking to cybersecurity.
